Adam Darski, more commonly known to the metal community by his stage name, Nergal, is the Polish frontman of metal band Behemoth. He was born on June 10, 1977 in Gdynia, Poland.

He was raised as a Catholic and started playing guitar at the age of 8. Nergal has furthered his education by completing six years of history and one year of Latin at the University of Gda?sk.

He is the founder of Behemoth, which he started during his teens. He plays rhythm and lead guitar for the band, as well as vocals. Nergal's clean and unique guitar sound comes from his own signature guitar, the Hex-7. The Hex-7 has 7 strings, is similar in appearance to the flying V, and is manufactured by ESP. Nergal's guitar usage has evolved over the years from B.C. Rich, to Jackson and Gibson. For a prolonged period of time he has switched from his previously used brands and stuck with ESP. His most commonly used equipment includes guitars from ESP, Gibson, Ibanez, Dean and Flame as well as Mesa Boogie Rectifier amps/Mesa Boogie cabinets, Boss pedals, Morley wah pedal, In tune signed Behemoth pics (1 mm) and D'Addario strings (12-56, 12-60). His amplifiers are typically Krank and Mesa.

Nergal has been making albums since 1992 and has released a total of 9 Studio albums with Behemoth, the most recent being Evangelion. He has had many notable guest appearances on albums with bands such as Vader, Nile and Ex Deo.

In August 2010 Nergal was diagnosed with Leukaemia, but was fortunate enough to find a bone marrow match in November. He was discharged from hospital after a successful transplant in January 2011 and is currently recovering.
