Jeff Waters was born on February 13, 1966, in Ottawa, Canada. Growing up Waters studied classical guitar but later would make the switch to Metal, he is now amongst the most respected and influential Metal guitarist’s on the scene.
Waters is the guitarist and main song writer for the thrash metal outfit ‘Annihilator’, and is the only original member in the band. He has been the main producer of every ‘Annihilator’ record. Waters composes and plays the vast majority of 'Annihilator' guitar and bass parts out of his home studio in Ottawa (he was also the lead vocalist from 1994-1997).
With the exception of vocalist/ guitarist Dave Padden who has been with ‘Annihilator’ since 2003, Waters uses other musicians, mainly for live performances.
Waters was ranked number 3 in Joel McIver's 2009 book ‘The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists’ and has been a huge influence on some of the biggest Metal bands going round.
Jeff played on ‘Roadrunner Records’ ‘Roadrunner United’ CD playing the solos in the songs "The Dagger" and "Independent (Voice of the Voiceless)", he also performed live on stage with other Roadrunner artists at the Roadrunner 25th anniversary celebration. Waters produced ‘Defiance's’ debut album entitled "Product of Society", and made a guest appearance on ‘After Forever’s self-titled album. On two occasions, once in 1989 and the other in 2004, Waters was asked by Dave Mustaine to join ‘Megadeth’, however Waters declined, deciding instead to persist with ‘Annihilator.’
