This week’s ‘Amped artist’ is alternative rock band Jolly. The video to their song ‘Where Everything’s Perfect’ can be found below.
Jolly is a unique rock band from New York City that combines a fresh blend of musical styles, laced with a feeling of familiarity. The band’s music incorporates aggressive dynamics, ambient textures, sophisticated arrangements, and infectious melodies.
In 2011, Jolly released their critically acclaimed sophomore effort ‘The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 1)’ via InsideOut Music/Century Media Records. The album received numerous honors, including being named ‘Album of the Month’ by Aardschok magazine in Holland, as well as being voted as one of the albums of the year by several different publications.
In addition to headlining tours in the U.S. and Europe, Jolly has performed live with Riverside, Otep, Evans Blue, and Fair To Midland. The band recently announced that they will be opening for Flying Colors, which includes Dream Theater founder Mike Portnoy and Steve Morse of Deep Purple. The show will be at the Best Buy Theater in New York City on September 6th.
Regarding the decision to have Jolly open, Mike Portnoy said: “I am a big fan of the last two Jolly albums and handpicked them to open the Flying Colors show in NYC.”
After impressing listeners with two solid albums and stunning live performances, Ytsejam.com referred to the band as, “a new promise as one of the re-inventors of the progressive rock mantra.”
