This weeks ‘Amped artist’ is Australian metal band Teramaze. The clip to the title track from their latest album ‘Anhedonia’ can be found below.
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia Teramaze are one of the country’s most promising acts. Their unique blend of progressive, melodic and thrash metal has seen them go from playing in local bars around Melbourne, to filling bars and small venues around the country.
Teramaze’s hard-hitting and unrelenting live performances have helped them to build a loyal and ever-increasing fan base, as well as get them a deal with U.S. based record distribution company, Nightmare Records.
Teramaze entered the studio in 2009 to begin production of their latest record ‘Anhedonia’ and; on April 27, 2012, the album was unleashed. With monstrous riffs, soaring vocals, and a solid rhythm section, ‘Anhedonia’ has the potential to bring Teramaze to the world stage. Sadly, the band suffered a major setback in recent times when Julian Percy, who played drums on the album, passed away.
Teramaze credit bands such as Animals As Leaders, Dream Theater, Tool and Pantera as influences. Teramaze guitarist and driving force, Dean Wells is greatly influenced by axemen such as John Petrucci, Marco Sfogli, Jason Becker and Marty Friedman; all of their playing styles can be heard in Wells’ epic soloing.
