The Safety Fire Gets ‘Amped’ By All Axess

This weeks ‘Amped artist’ is British progressive metal band The Safety Fire. The band was kind enough to film All Axess a series of exclusive videos; first up is lessons from guitarists Dez Nagle and Jo Ardiles on how to play their respective parts of the songs ‘Animal King’ and ‘DMB(FDB),’ from the band’s debut album ‘Grind The Ocean.’ Both videos, as well as a statement from the band announcing an upcoming tour can be found below.

 

The Safety Fire press release: “British tech-­-metallers The Safety Fire are extremely pleased to announce that they have been invited to take part in a free summer music series that invites fans and artists to represent their music and celebrate musical diversity -­- CONVERSE UK announced the launch of REPRESENT at London’s legendary 100 Club, with The Safety Fire being added to the REPRESENT OVERKILL bill on the 9th of August.

“From July 30th to August 10th, Converse will bring REPRESENT to life through the ultimate live music experience at the 100 Club. With headline acts to include a range of artists from various genres including Plan B, Nas, Paul Weller, Spiritualized, Toots and The Maytals, SBTRKT, UK Subs, Santigold, Overkill, Kano, John Talabot, Django Django, Best Coast and other special guests, the free concert series will present nine gigs, featuring a total of 45 notable artists who have helped shape the global music landscape of the past, present and future. Since its inception in 1942, the 100 Club has been famed for its democratic celebration of music of all genres.

“The Safety Fire has always pushed the boundaries of technical, progressive metal since their inception. With their expansive atmospheres and soaring melodies, it’s easy to see why vocalist Sean McWeeney, bassist Lori Peri, drummer Calvin Smith and guitarists Derya Nagle & Joaquin Ardiles are now at the forefront of their ever growing genre.

“The band released the first single “Huge Hammers” to widespread critical acclaim, with the single garnering plays from Zane Lowe amongst others. “Huge Hammers” is the perfect taster to the release of their debut album, “Grind the Ocean”. Mastered by Jens Bogren (well known for his work with such luminaries as Opeth, Katatonia and Amon Amarth), the album was produced and mixed by guitarist Derya Nagle as part of his “BlackBear Productions”.

“As well as being invited to play the Converse REPRESENT show, The Safety Fire will be performing at Hevy Festival on the 4th of August, followed by a month long tour with Periphery and Between The Buried And Me -­- see below for the October tour dates:
