Grammy award winning rock outfit 3 Doors Down have announced that guitarist and co-founding member Matt Roberts is leaving the band.
A statement left on the 3 Doors Down website reported that Roberts was leaving due to, “ health and circulation problems,” which have been, “exacerbated by performing nearly 300 dates each year with the band.”
Roberts also commented on his departure from the band, citing health issues as his reasons for leaving. “3 Doors Down will always have a special place in my heart and it saddens me to take this time off,” he said in an official statement. “But my health has to be my first priority.
3 Doors Down lead singer Brad Arnold said, “Matt is our brother and he will always be a part of this band and he will always be welcomed back with open arms,” in his statement on the band’s website.
While no replacement for Roberts has yet been announced, the band has confirmed that its current tour with legendary rock band ZZ Top and country artist Gretchen Wilson will continue as planned. “Thankfully, and with a blessing from Roberts, Universal Republic recording artists 3 Doors Down’s current tour and schedule will remain in tact.”
3 Doors Down guitarist Chris Henderson will be performing double duties for the remainder of the tour.
