Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith recently entered the Guitar Center studios to talk about his early influences on guitar, his relationship with Jackson Guitars as well as his Jackson Adrian Smith Signature SDX guitar. The video can be found below.

Smith said that his early inspirations were Free and Deep Purple. However, he conceded that it took some time before he was able to play their material. “You’re not gonna start playing [Deep Purple's] ‘Highway Star’ right off the bat, so we played Beatles songs, Stones songs, simple stuff really.”

He added: “[UFO guitarist] Michael Schenker, Gary Moore, all the guitarists of Thin Lizzy are massive inspirations.”
