Gibson.com has released its list of the top ten blues guitarists of the past twenty years. It can be found below.
Several well-known modern blues guitarists made the cut, including the likes of Joe Bonamassa, John Mayer and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. However, the list also features a couple of somewhat controversial choices with both Derek Trucks and multi-instrumentalist Ben Harper – whose sounds span a wide variety of genres – polling well.
Writer Daniel Eriksson explained why the list was put together: “When Stevie Ray Vaughan passed away in 1990, he left a void in the world of young blues musicians. Over the past twenty years we have seen the emergence of many talented blues guitarists. Here are ten of the most influential blues guitarists to come along over the past couple of decades.”
