Shockwave-Hannover metal radio caught up with former Nevermore guitarist Jeff Loomis at the current Euroblast tour with Monuments, Vildhjarta and Stealing Axion. The video interview can be found below.
As well as performing material from his first two solo albums on the tour, Loomis is also playing his new track, ‘A Liar’s Chain,’ which is the first of three death metal songs he recorded with his band to be released online.
Loomis explained that his inspiration for the new songs was drawn from a track off of his latest album ‘Plains Of Oblivion’: “I had so much fun recording ‘Surrender’ with Ihsahn [ex-Emperor] on vocals for my last solo album that I wanted to do more songs like that.”
Loomis recorded ‘A Liar’s Chain’ with his touring band: drummer Anup Sastry, bassist Greg Macklin as well as guitarist Joe Nurre, who also made his debut on vocals. “[Nurre] has a pretty killer death metal voice,” Loomis said, “so I thought it would be perfect to do some more stuff like this with him as well as the rest of the guys.”
