RollingStone.com is premiering a brand new track, titled ‘John the Revelator’ from guitar master Steve Vai’s forthcoming album ‘The Story Of Light.’ Follow the link below to hear it.

The concept of ‘The Story Of Light’ follows on from Vai’s previous album ‘Real Illusions: Reflection,’ which involves the “the cosmic journey of a man driven mad by grief, intertwining tragedy, revelation, enlightenment and redemption.”

The album features several well known guests, including Aimee Mann, who duets with Vai on a song she cowrote, and ‘The Voice’ finalist Beverly McClellan, who appears on Vai’s cover of  ’John the Revelator.’ Vai explained that his interpretation of the song was inspired by the 1930 recording by Blind Willie Johnson.

“I heard Blind Willie Johnson’s version and it oozed with mojo,” Vai told Rolling Stone. “I was overwhelmed with the compunction to add some voodoo hot sauce to it.”
