Kiss guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley has commented on the legendary rock band’s recent licensing agreement with the hugely popular Fox animated series, Family Guy.
The agreement means that a new, co-branded line of Kiss/Family Guy products will be made available this coming autumn. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox will develop the products in association with KISS’ licensing agent, Live Nation Merchandise, and will look for partners to make everything from bobblehead dolls to apparel to fine art.
Stanley told the Hollywood Reporter that the partnership was ideal, as the band, “are focusing more and more on the upper-tier, blue-chip opportunities for prestige partnerships,” and that, “Family Guy’s track record and consistent success with its demographic makes this match-up ideal.”
While the collaboration may seem unusual, it isn’t the first time the two entertainment juggernauts have crossed paths. Kiss had previously made three guest appearances on the show, with their storyline
chronicling a previous relationship between Kiss bassist Gene Simmons and Family Guy main character Lois Griffin.
Fox Consumer Products President Jeffrey Godsick has also commented on the deal. “KISS and Family Guy coming together for a line of products is a great mash-up of two iconic brands that speaks directly to fans who will be able to enjoy something a little different and special with what we have in store.”
