Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser has said that the renowned Brazilian metal band would consider covering a song by teen sensation Justin Bieber for one million pounds. Check it out in the video below.
Speaking with Virtual Festivals at this year’s Bloodstock Open Air festival at Catton Park in Derbyshire in the United Kingdom, Kisser said it would be an interesting challenge: “We’re not scared. We’re not scared of music — independently of the style or the quality. Sepultura did cover songs from, of course, the metal bands like [Black] Sabbath and everything else, and Motörhead, and hardcore bands like Discharge and Dead Kennedys and stuff. We did Bob Marley; we did U2; we did Jane’s Addiction… we did so many different stuff that it would be a great challenge for us, actually.”
However, Kisser admitted that he was doubtful a Sepultura cover of a Justin Bieber song would ever come to fruition. “I cannot really imagine [it], because I don’t really know his music. [laughs] I would have to do [some] research and see where we can find something.”
For Kisser, the best cover songs are the most unlikely ones. “I think the best covers are the not, let’s say, ‘expectable’ covers. I mean, Sepultura doing Sabbath is very ‘expectable,’ but if you do something very different and you come up with something new; I think that’s why a cover needs to be done.”
