The Black Dahlia Murder guitarist Ryan Knight sat down with Loudwire at this pass weekend’s Orion Music + More Festival to talk about when the band plan on hitting the studio to record the follow up to 2011s ‘Ritual.’ A couple of excerpts from the chat can be found below.

Knight revealed that the band had already come up with a few ideas for the new record. “You know, we have some riffs here and there, but no full songs.”

He added that The Black Dahlia Murder wouldn’t be focusing their full attentions on a new album until they’ve finished touring the latest one. “Right now, we’re just winding down the ‘Ritual’ tour cycle. We’ve been touring a whole lot. We’ll probably start writing a new album in the Fall.”

In the meantime, fans in Europe and Russia still have a chance to see The Black Dahlia Murder perform. “After this, we’re going to go home for three or four days. Then we head to Europe to play a couple of festivals and some off shows in Russia. Then we come home and then go back to Europe in August to do the late summer festivals.”

Knight also recalled the impact that Orion Music + More Festival organizers and legendary thrash metal band Metallica had on him as a young guitarist. “I remember in ’90 or ’91, I got the ‘Black’ album and sort of went backwards. They’ve influenced so many people.”
