The Faceless guitarist/vocalist Michael Keene has revealed that not only is the band planning a live DVD, but that he is also working on a solo album and writing his own stand-up routine.
Speaking with radio station KSSU, Keene announced the live release: “We’re probably going to do a live DVD at some point in the near future,” he said.
According to Keene, the live DVD will be a true reflection of The Faceless’ live shows; something that he argued was rarely represented on live recordings: “Unlike everyone else’s live DVDs and live CDs, we’re not going to go back in and re-record everything like every band does.”
Keene followed by speaking about his upcoming solo album: “It’s not really along the lines of a [Steve] Vai or [Joe] Satriani,” he explained. “It’s more like a jazz-fusion thing with progressive rock elements…it’s very guitar heavy.”
Furthermore, Keene said that he had also been trying his hand in comedy: “I just wrote a stand-up routine, I’m going to try out at a local stand-up thing…”
He added that he incorporates humor into The Faceless lyrics wherever possible: “There’s a lot of irony and [there is] supposed to be some comedic relief in what is said.”
